Conspiratory. Said In a conspiratory manner. My Geddes & Grosset dictionary has this listed, but neither my WP or the editor on this forum like it (underlined in red). Here's an example of how I'm using it: 'Listen, Vic,' he said, his voice hushed now, almost conspiratory, 'do this and I'll make you a rich man.' The internet in general accepts it, but am I using it incorrectly or something?
Yes, that does sound better. I did a 'use in a sentence' search and found these: I'm guessing if you can perform an action that is conspiratory, you can use a voice that's conspiratory ?
A thumbs up is way too blatant to be conspiratorial! Conspiratorial is some sort of furtive - grin, glance are OK.
I don't see why not. Amongst is not considered a true word by most writing software, but we all understand what it means and have seen it used.
Neither is 'movie'. Never have understood that one. Not even listed as slang in any of my dictionaries.
