Suggestion: Get a literary magazine like Readers Digest to sponsor this weekly contest (and the poetry contest). Then gather the weeky contests periodically, say quarterly, semi-annually, or even annually. Allow the publication to pick the best entry and publish it. I imagine you could also do this for the annual Science Fiction Contest with the help of a Science Fiction magazine. It might pave the way for closer ties with the publishing industry and attract more writers to the forum. Of course, it would go a long way toward keeping the forum alive.
This thread was created to discuss the contest itself as the above post ended up in the contest submission thread and it seemed off topic there.
I have no idea how the web site is managed. Perhaps, those concerned have already explored these avenues. Perhaps, it is none of my business. However, when an unfortunate failure occurs, it affects every member, and it affects the credibility of the operation. Once headed down that path, it is difficult to steer in the right direction. Maybe, it is best to back up a little and figure out where you are, the condition of the horse, and how best to get to where you want to go. I'm sure there are many members who could offer assistance. I am certainly willing to help. I don't need any money. I have nothing but time, and I have a lifetime of experience to draw upon, having been a programmer, web developer, systems engineer, technical writer, training developer, military trainer, and a soldier. I have worked in difficult situations for many years. Have you teamed up with one or more publishers? Do you need assistance with this?
Today i was searching for giveaway in some forum and i started searching for free article giveaway and i landed in this forum through google and i decided to be part of it for some time well i would like to suggest a "giveaway section" where free articles will be given to non-writers till they become writers. This will inspire many like me to join the forum thanks and regards
Sorry if this sounds negative, but that fact you're having to do this tells me interest is very low. Why not just pick a winner yourself so we can move on?
#305 is not open from my end so I wasn’t able to get my vote in and other people might be having the same issue.
