    Suggestion [Implemented] [pre]

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Aaron DC, Jul 16, 2015.

Poems in particular can lend themselves to formatting into shapes aligned with their content.

I was curious if it would be possible to add the [pre] ==> <pre> tag to the forum's editor?

    Thanks!

(I tried [pre] in the BBCode version of the editor and it did not translate).

I will admit to being something of a novitiate to these dynamics and paradigms, but if I can learn to do it, there's no reason not to provide it. :agreed:

[pre][/pre] BBcode tags now function in our forum. Using them (for those not in the know) will preserve spacing that is typically removed by HTML.

    For example:

I find it important, for my poems, to present them exactly as I wrote them because the spaces speak as loudly as the words.

I'm confused, I tried this test:

    xx xx
    xx
    test
    xx

OK, that didn't help. Perhaps if you told me what the 'pre' stands for?

OK, think I get it, does it preserve the spaces?

As a suggestion to people curious to try, change the font of your post to Courier New -- a monospaced font where each letter occupies the same width on the screen as every other -- and then do your arranging / shaping / fixing.

Yes. It's confusing in the default post font because it's proportionally spaced, and spaces and letters take up differing widths on the screen.

Hence the suggestion to change to Courier New.
