So, at the end of the last battlestar episode the audience was asked to vote on whether they believed whether or not Balatr deserved a trial. His supposed crimes - Collaboration and all that went along with it- may have stripped him of this right, or he may still retain the rights of a citizen of the 12. What do you think? Balatr is the scientist that set up the whole defense program that was stolen and broken by the Cylons right?
I only got the to watch the mini series, 4 years without tv takes its toll on the memory. But from what I have watched of last season and this seasons episodes, plus wiki, I have something valid to add. Now information known by Galactica as far as I know: -He admitted how his incompetence assisted the Cylon invasion. -Collaborated (unwillingly) with the Cylons, which killed thousands of people under his protection, but kept them from killing everyone. -Helped lead a Cylon to a possible road map to Earth. With that evidence they should have the trial. Let the people know that the rule of law still applies. Also let the people see that the person behind most of their recent hardship is punished. If he just disappears he becomes a boogy man, and lives on in the memory of the people. With mothers telling their children he'll come after them if they aren't good. By showing the trial it puts an end to him forever. Seeing a tormentor humbled and dead is a great relief to most people. So have the trial and then put a bullet through his head for his crimes.
Seeing as the Sci-Fi network is going to keep asking these questions, I'm going to keep making these posts. So the workers on the Fuel-thingy ship may or may not have been treated unfairly, so this guy in charge of the mechanics decided to stage a strike and unionize the workers. Questions: Were the workers being treated unfairly? Was the chief right to revolt? Is Baltar's book ( the battlestar communist manifesto) correct? Does the president have the right to ban the book? Hell yes, but the job needed to be done. Yes, but it could of torn the fleet apart. Seems to be getting that way. ...No.
