    Current Project Progress Bar

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Shreyass, Jan 5, 2008.

I saw this on anothe forum, thought it was a cool way of keeping others updated on your current progress. Basically, on your profile, you give your current project name, projected word count and word count completed, and it displays it as a bar and a percentage under your username. Pretty cool, could it be implemented?

It would probably be easier to just make one yourself in your signature. I'm not sure if that particular mod exists for this type of forum.

Send a PM to Lpspider. It's a great idea if it's possible, but as MarcG has said, it may just be easier to have it in your signature. After all, not everyone is working on a novel or substantial piece.

Mexico, you got a problem with that?
It could be a good incentive though.

I like the idea too, Bluemouth, since I've got plenty of ideas for new stories.

Consider that such a feature would really only be good for ONE project per user, and only for projects that have a specific goal word count. It sounds cool, but is just one more decoration for the space to the left of the post, under the avatar, and really isn't all that useful for everyone.

But you could always link to an image somewhere like photobucket in a blog entry, then update the image periodiaclly using your own software tool. That way you could adapt it to whatever metrics you consider important, and for as many projects as you want to track.

You could even use Microsoft Project to generate your display image.

It's an interesting idea. I like it, but I do agree that it would add a lot of clutter, and the postbit is already pretty filled up. If we did end up adding something like this, it would probably be displayed in the profile and/or blog.

True, not a problem. Thanks for thinking about it.
