There's this book I really want to get on Kindle, but I sadly cannot remember the name of the book or the author. The gist of the plot is this: A man from modern day times is suddenly transported to a fantasy world and is made an engineer in a king's army. At some point in the second book, he's teaching the people the concept of trade and money while they make gunpowder for their soldiers. The front cover of the first book has the picture of a bearded white guy in a snowy environment, clad in Medieval attire while holding a crossbow. He has this surprised, bewildered look on his face. Sadly, this is all I know. If anyone knows the books I'm talking about, I'd greatly appreciate it.
