    Looking for a word.

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Lilith_Duat, Aug 31, 2015.

Ok, so pig-like is porcine, cow-like is bovine, bear-like is ursine.
    But, what's goat-like?
    I want to describe a "goat-like" feature.

But I'd just go with 'goat-like' as it's far more descriptive and instantly puts an image in your head.

Thank you very much. I learned something today!
But you're right. I'll go with goat-like since it's easily recognizable.

You could also go with quasi hircum. :)

    Is pan-like any use?

The issue with going too esoteric is losing your readers :D

It's 'caprine' :) (edit: think of 'capricorn')

Hircine is another word meaning goat-like, especially pertaining to smell.

The Tree of Life Web Project is a good source for animal classifications.

Caprinae includes goats with a subgroup Ovine that refers to sheep.
