    Day Off

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by G. J., Jul 14, 2022.

Do you ever take a day off from your serious writing? I'm talking about the work on your major project, an article for your blog, query letters, collaboration with other writers or musicians if you write lyrics.

I usually don't because I fear losing my love for the craft if I do that. Yet, today I haven't written one serious word. I find myself looking forward to tomorrow when I sit at this keyboard to plug away at my main project.

When I was pretending to be a writer, it would have been more apt to ask if I ever didn’t take a day off from my serious writing.

I was like that too about eight years ago. Somehow, just finding the right story idea got me out of the hole I was in.

My characters said they'd pay for my lifestyle.
    - I said alright, but I want 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
    They said alright.
    - I said and a pension.
    They gave me a pension.
    - And a vehicle.
    They got me a vehicle.
    - And stock options, guys - go twist the shareholders' arms for me

Those damn shareholders. I should've paid more attention to the "What powers do I give my vampire?" threads.
