Welcome! That really depends on how young...I'm 12, but I suppose most folks would consider me a child. As for teenagers, there are quite a few. You'll also find many 16, 17 and 18 year olds on here. I'm actually a pretty new member myself, so I can't be sure, but dyna fel mae'n fynd! Hurrah for Celtic languages. Lucy.
Hello Bonzo, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Eoz Eanj - I giggled. it's interesting how different people introduce themselves online. Bonzo - hello and welcome from another young person (17)!
18? 12? 17? If anybody makes any old people jokes I'll hit 'em with my cane. If only I can remember where I put my cane.
i always keep mine handy, along with the crutches and back brace, for when my darn lower back goes out!... could be from carrying so many of the next generation... or just the time i fell off the top of my rv...
Irish Journalist Hi, I have been completely inactive on this board since my last introduction so I would like to start anew. I enjoy writing opinion pieces and features. I love reviews and short stories although I have not written fiction in years. I suffer from a lack of motivation and inspiration when it comes to topics to write about and that is why I have come back here. I want to find interesting topics that I can write about. Any help will be greatly appreciated. =D I'm Mark by the way.
Welcome again then, hope you'll be more active this time I'll keep my fingers crossed for some inspiration
Hi Mark Good luck with your writing. I have one possible tip for you that may or may not help. Have you considered writing a regular blog? By that I mean every week without fail, come rain, hail or Tsunami you add another 500 word entry to your blog. I've been doing this for 16 months now (up to blog 69) and I have to tell you it has been extremely helpful. I feel I have improved as a writer in many different ways. In particular I have learned so much about what I am good and bad at, that I feel I am now more proficient and confident than I was when I started. If you are looking for ways to re-energise yourself as a writer, I would strongly recommend this. But you have to be totally committed to keeping going, come what may and to trying new ideas and approaches as well. You could of course just write stuff down in a private diary, but I think the fact that it is a blog forces you to think about your audience all the time, which is a good discipline. Just my two cents.
Thanks for all the replies guys! Donal, it's lovely to see a member from around my area! BruceBeckett I do actually have a blog since the end of last year. It was my New Years Resolution. It's not as frequent as every week its more cathartic than that and a little more personal than some. It is however, a treasure trove of information about me no doubt if someone read it that is
