Different time and culture: help needed in research

Discussion in 'Dialogue Development' started by FatalRibbon, Nov 12, 2017.

Hello, I hope this is the right place to ask. I recently have to write a story about some young girls living in 1979 London, and being a non-native speaker and someone who's only visited UK once, I have problem getting especially the dialogue right. The other aspects of culture are somewhat easier to figure out, like what food people enjoyed and what music they listened to, but without being exposed to a large number of conversations I'm quite lost as to what kind of vocabulary these girls are supposed to use.

What's your suggestion? Are there some good works, rich in dialogue and true to the time period that you recommend? What are some other research options? Thank you.
