Do word contractions and brief sentences make for a more conversational / natural speech?

    Yet, somehow, I find myself in the laundry room oxycleaning skid marks out of Spider-Man undies every other day...

    I feel like a lack of contractions should only be used for times of emphasis.
    "Do not-"
    "It is not allowed."

    But even then, the above ought to be used sparingly.

    Not really sure what your problem is. Actually I strongly suspect what it is but will not say lest I get another nastygram from some mod.
