Do you put much work into the setting and story of your book?

I've decided that I have done sufficent prep work, and have now begun writing the book. Got 700 words on paper. This is so much more fun than writing background information:)

I guess I'll learn which ways suit me the best as I write and become more experienced. It's my first book after all, and as someone here put it, I'm a newbie writer:rolleyes:
