I'm fine with my journal being public.
ETA: Missed the alert that you'd already taken care of it, @big soft moose ! Thank you!!!
Yes, please set my Progress Journal to Members Only, so I can mine it for content for my public website without getting penalized by Google for "duplicate content".
Thanks Moose & other mods!
Mine for members only as well, please
done - assuming you mean your fantasy journal... if there's another one post a link to it
No, that's the one , Thanks
Seriously? They do that? Just shows you what lousy SEO my (intermittent) blog has.
Yeah, they've been doing it for quite a while now. Remember the "Google Author" thing they had at one point? That was intended as a response to that, because they were pushing down sites with dupe content so they appeared lower in search results.
The biggest problem with duplicate content, though, is that it can make the process of copyright registration more complicated. On one of my registrations a few years ago, the Copyright office asked me to provide proof that it was my work. (I save all my notes and drafts for a certain period of time, so it was easy to prove, but it added another step to the process and made it take longer.) So, I'm really careful about dupe content now.
Well, given what @Shenanigator says, please set my progress journal to members-only, too.
Occasionally I adapt posts on it for my writer's blog, and it seems more to the point if the general public sees the content there.
I'd like mine set to members only:
Separate names with a comma.
