I used to love playing shinty, hockey and baseball as a kid and I did boxing and MMA between high school and college for a bit until I decided it probably wasn't good for the IQ. When I was in the states everyone tried getting me into football, but I never really liked playing it and have never liked watching other people doing it. Now the closest I get to sports is taking my dog for a run and occasionally checking the MLB website to make sure the Red Sox are ahead of The Cardinals and making sure my ex knows about it if they are.
There was an Aussie (Jarryd Hayne )who tried his luck a few years ago trying to get into an American Football Team. I think he finally got a game or two with the San Francisco 49ers. But ultimately he didn't get a full-time position with them. I do admire his effort though. because he had never played American football as a kid. he learnt Gridiron in 12 months.
Getting ready for the big event(s). If you can`t tell I`m not big into football. Tried to get into it a bit over the years never really did. Followed it passively for a bit. Only thing I know for sure is I don`t like the Patriots so go Rams. Kinda wanna find a party to crash for the food though. Hope those of you that do enjoy such things enjoy the game, and win any fantasy bets you got down or however that works. Looking forward to see clips of the ads and halftime show tomorrow.
I tend to discuss sports at the local pub or with my buds. MMA or boxing, usually. Hand-egg can be fun over a beer and good company though. I'll be watching the super bowl with my niece who, at not even six has no idea why everyone wants the egg shaped ball.
Yeah, no doubt there. Belichick goes down as the best head coach ever, too. Now if New York could use just one of its three teams to go to the playoffs, that'd be interesting.
Just not the most popular. Despite the controversy his and the teams record is impressive. It`ll be interesting to see though if he ever ends up like the like of Lance Armstrong. Plenty of people already view him that way. Halftime and the ads were disappointing. I did like the one Game of Thrones and Bud Light ad. Think Bud Light got the raw end of the deal there. It does have an interesting cultural effect. The cultural effect of sporting events as a whole is quite interesting. The noteworthy thing in regards to the States is how football has somewhat surpassed and overtake Baseball as the American past time and cultural phenomenon. The Black Sox Scandel helped to disillusion a lot of people to that sport, way back. I`ll always prefer baseball but the cultural phenom of football is something. Especially considering it`s very much a solely American thing. Maybe that`s a part of it? It`s so ingrained in the American identity at this point because it`s something so uniquely American. Even Apple Pie came from the Ducth but Football? That`s ours we made it are own. Stole the name from soccer and elements of Rugby but still. The puppy and kitty bowls were great.
