Grammar Is there a name for this type of word?

You would say “The past tense of run is ran.”

And you would say “The plural of apple is apples.”

So the names for these words are plural and past tense.

But what about “The _____ of small is smallest.” ?

Does that have a name?

 

Superlative.

Smaller = comparative.
Smallest = superlative.
