Question [Solved] Email question

How do I stop getting emails every time someone responds to a thread I have also replied to? I thought I turned it off - I have the box unchecked in Preferences that says 'and receive email notifications of replies'. I am still getting emails though.

 

Just to clarify: I want to get the 'alert' but not the email. How do I do this?

Did you go to "Alert Preferences" under your settings, or just "Preferences" under settings? (analyzing your permissions didn't give me the answer)

 

Just Preferences. I couldn't find anything about email in Alert Preferences.

 

Hmm... Any chance I can get you to give me a screen cap of that? It sounds like you've got the right switches flipped.

Yeah, that's it, but... it does look like you've got it set correctly. Mine is only different in that I DO NOT auto-follow threads in which I comment. Way too many alerts for me on top of staff stuff.

 

Is there anything in Alert Preferences that maybe I should change?

 

Try going to Settings> Contact Details and turning off the button for email whenever your name is mentioned.



Are you getting emails even if members do not quote your prior posts?

 

Yes, I'm getting emails for everything. They are taking over my inbox!

 

When you change the email preference it will only affect future thread watching. Threads you already follow will still send emails. In order to get rid of these emails you'll have to go to each thread, choose "unwatch", then choose "watch" again and make sure that "and receive email notifications" is not checked.

I also have this problem and I'm afraid this is the only solution I've found.
