For those who like anime and manga just name off your favorite and we'll talk about how absolutely awesome it is
I'm old-school... I loved Galaxy 999 and Starblazers. The Battleship Yomato was the best! Manga and anime today has become... EMO-esque. Many of the anime avatars I see here on the site are brinking on, well, doujinshi style. Oh, and I love Avatar! But that's American anime. Oh, one more.... Miyazaki is a God!
Wow that is old school^^ Battleship Yamato was Star Blazers in English right? Didn't Galaxy Express get redone recently?
Doesn't Galaxy Express has like....4 remakes or so? Counting spin-offs. Myself, my favorites always change but Utena's always a constant. Currently I like xxxHolic and Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei. I liked Rozen Maiden a lot while it lasted. Jigoku Shoujo too. I was crazy for Initial D for a while. As for manga, I guess Bleach is okay, Law of Ueki and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. Death Note was cool too until mainstream butchered it.
I grew up in Hawai'i. We had Japanese channels direct from Japan. I watched Battleship Yomato with English subtitles. They continued to add to the Galaxy Express 999 franchise over the years. The last that I saw was Galaxy Railways: Letter From An Abandoned Planet. That was 2004 0r 2005.
Yeah Railways was the one I was thinking of^^ I remember playing the Initail D game in the arcades with the whole card registration thingy
Slaughter lol! Well, it's about a town were every years a death occurs. Wikipedia can explain it better than me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni
Pfft! Case Close doesn't come near. Higurashi takes you into the perspective of the victim or murdered and shows you various scenarios of what happened, sometimes of the same occurance. If you can get past all the loli you'll enjoy it.
Ooo, my fav series is definitely Trigun! Absolutely fabulous show! I'd have to say in second place is Death Note, followed by Hellsing. I've seen tons of others though, mostly hyper-violent action shows. Excel Saga was a really goofy one though. I also just started watching Samurai Champloo which is incredibly good so far. But, I absolutely hate the stuff that's really big right now like Naruto and Bleach. I can't see what they have going for them other then snazzy fights. Terrible stories, sub-par animation, and terrible dialogue. No accounting for taste though...
Hellsing and Trigun are very good shows and Samurai Champloo is extremely funny to me Death Note I find to have a very interesting story and characters yet I didn't like the live-action version. I liked Bleach when it wasen't so popular in the states and Naruto is overriden in my opinion.
Hellsing the anime sucks in comparison to the manga, methinks. Death Note, Bleach and Naruto all got slaughtered by the main-stream. Death Note had some really good animation though, and I still read the Bleach manga.
Well, I thought Hellsing was fairly good even though it was only 13 episodes but I heard they were making an OVA on it
I'm not sure, I believe not but I might be wrong. There's always the fandubs anyway, I prefer those actually.
Yeah I was able to watch all of Death Note and Wolf's Rain because of those^^ Actually that brings this question: Who likes Wolf's Rain? ;D
Actually, there's 4 OVA's out. The first three are in English dub, but you can only find the 4th in America on the internet in fan sub, and I won't admit that I watched it that way... But yeah, the manga is pretty good. I'm still waiting for Vol. 9. I still feel the 13 episode show has a better and less screwy story. The OVA has way better action and animation though. And yeah, DN was kinda ruined by the mainstream. The Jap dubbed voices are better then the English dub voices in the anime. Still, the manga waaaaaay surpasses the anime. The anime was great until after L died. It compressed the last 6 volumes into 10 episodes, making the finale feel to rushed. They did the first 6 volumes in 26 episodes so I was confused. I've been meaning to watch Wolf's Rain as well! ^ ^
Wolf's Rain is so emo! It's a great series, it's got a great animation and great music, but I found the plot too weak to be either drama anime or psychological anime.
You wanna know emo? Watch Elfen Lied, haha. Great series, but way too dark and emo-ish. The violence is A+ though!
Yeah I noticed DN got kinda outta whack after L died (I'm still trying to figure out how Rem killed Watari if she's never seen him) but I think Near is pretty cool and looks like Roxas from KH2. Wolf's Rain is a good anime to me. I haven't watched every episode but my gf bought the series on DVD and when we got to the second disk the story seemed to start over from the point of view from a different character and it was kind of confusing but the ending was pretty cool and sad.
