So I have watched a couple of the Jessie Ventura Conspiracy Theory episodes lately, and I know most aren't true, but they can be entertaining to watch. So what are some of your favorite conspiracies?
I don't know a whole lot about Alex Jones. What's he all about? I do believe in the New World Order, and I think the movie called The International isn't far from the truth of what is going on today. As far as intelligent design, I wouldn't be surprised it isn't already happening in some secret country that only millionaires can afford.
I love conspiracy theories. Probably my favourite is the Illuminati, and other such groups which "appear to be controlling the world". I also quite like JFK conspiracies. As far as controversy/debate is concerned, I get involved with the whole Creation/Evolution thing quite often. I believe in creation, but I still read books on both sides of the argument, so I can get a better idea of what people are talking about.
Certain people have been trying hard to make Conspiracy Theorist a pejorative term. It is easy to make any concept or movement look stupid by only pointing out the most extreme of their members. Not accepting everything anyone tells you at face value is a survival characteristic. As for conspiracies, people conspire all the time. It is whether they have any effective ability to carry it out that matters. Countries turn into police states all the time. Usually, the population only find out when it has already happened. Soldiers *were* deliberately exposed to atomic radiation. Drug companies have tested unproven drugs on unknowing subjects (mostly outside of their home country). More than one "wonder drug" has been withdrawn because of undisclosed side effects. But before these and other things were proven, the people investigating were Conspiracy Theorists.
Got to admit, when Jonesy calls out people for getting riled more by a football game than state of their society, he kind of has a point... I find a lot of conspiracy theorists would be infinitely more believable if they didn't always tie in sometimes quite valid observations with the lucky-dip of baddies they've been rehashing for the last forty years. Yes, that senator may have had ties to this company when he signed that bill, and this person may have been out of the state when the government claims they fired a gun at said senator. But when conspiracy theorists find this stuff, they don't report it as-found. They immediately tie it back to whichever secret society is plotting the downfall of civilisation this week. People know those in power conspire all the time, and they want to hear about it. But they want fact. Conspiracy theorists often throw fiction relating to their favourite hobby horse into the feed bag, and that's why people dismiss them.
Well, my friend, you have just created another controversy. Not even the cane sugar Dr Peppers out of Waco or Dublin (can't remember) are worth their volume in smegma ETA: RC can only be drunk...drank...um.. consumed from a can or glass bottle. I don't know what plastic does to it, but I would rather drink a warm Tab
I pretty much love every unknown, especially historical mysteries and their theories. Amelia Earhart, Lost Colony of Roanoke, the fate of the Mayflower 2... Some of my favorites.
Anything related to UFOs or aliens is awesome. I used to have this book back when I was a kid that had depictions of what beings from other planets might look like. I've been hooked ever since. I just don't want to turn out like those Ancient Aliens guys.
I am pretty fascinated with the Amanda Knox case recently... For some reason I am inclined to think she is guilty, even though I know there is a large US lobby who will defend her through thick and thin, no matter what Intriguing case
This one is more a myth than a controversy, but there were rumors in boot camp that they put Salt Peter (yeah ironic huh?) in the salt to keep us from getting erections like morning wood. From everything I have read since, Salt Peter doesn't really work that way and it can do a lot of harm to the body if a person takes a lot of it. Now that doesn't mean they couldn't have used something else...
I remember this from basic. The way I heard it was that it was in the water. Do you remember having to drink those two glasses of water before you could have you meal?
We didn't have to do that, but we were forced to drink 12 canteens of water per day. There were actually some guys that were kicked out because they wet their beds at night from drinking so much.
12 canteens? I'd've been one of them! I was only at basic for a couple of weeks because of having taken ROTC.
