“Now, I’m taking charge of this group for now, because you’re all acting like complete idiots, and I’m probably the one who needs the least therapy.

“OH MY GOD, OW, WHO’S DYING.”

Should I start thinking in meters, since I’m not in America anymore? Jayden thought. Shut up, you’re delirious and probably dehydrated, he told himself crossly.

"What? You need me to go to the store? With what money, I’m using it all on collage!”

So my Urban Fantasy characters have just been shown the existence of magic and are working out the elemental powers that they're going to start practicing first. Keep in mind, I had spent the better part of a year knowing that the leader was going to be named Charlie, and I had spent months thinking that her elements were going to be Earth and Water, so the perfection of this line was completely unintended:

Alec: Hey, chick named Charlie?

Charlie: I'm not going to be a fire-starter.

 

Jayden's a privileged white boy and everyone knows it. Hopefully he'll stop acting like it soon, though, because it's starting to get annoying...

 

I have one on a new script I'm writing. Emperor Cerberus, the dark ruler has just invaded his enemies land.

Cerberus: Move or die. What's it going to be?

The guards proceed to move out of his way.

Cerberus: That wasn't so hard, was it?

He says before slicing them into pieces.

 

The characer using the phrase is pretty cringey though.

 

True that. Rei's a walking teenage meme, though, so it fits her character well enough. (It's less cringey in context, trust me. Jayden's complaining about dirt on his shirt, and Rei is Done™.)

 

“I was sent to earth with this hologram technology in order to monitor the humanoid species. When I don this body suit, I appear to be a member of the homo sapiens. I am camouflaged by human skin and hair, and I wear conventional human garb.”

“Conventional? You were constantly wearing sunglasses! You don’t think that’s suspicious? And did you think that copying everything I did was normal human behavior?”

“Sunglasses are what humans wear in order to carry out covert missions. I believe that sufficiently rebuts your hypothesis, Andy.”

“But if everyone knows that sunglasses are sketchy . . . never mind! Why did you come to Earth? Why Oceanside of all places?”

Lily: "What's so funny?"
Dragomir: "If I was jealous over a piece of meat having your attention, wouldn't you be laughing?"
Lily: "But a piece of meat doesn't have my attention Drake!"
*Dragomir looks at Lily* "Didn't you say vampires were your favourite of the supernatural?"
Lily: "... >/////< OK, the last thing I want is for you to starve, but I draw the line at sleeping with your food!"
Dragomir: "I didn't, I made a promise and I intend to keep it."

Norman-"You've known him for a few days! I think it's a little rude to act like every time he goes out he's out drinking and whoring."
Troy-"What are you doing?"
Isaiah-(reaching the door and leaving)Drinking and whoring"

He's not my MC but my favorite quote so far.

 

MC is a former aristocrat, his house has fallen into darkness with him being the only survivor thanks to a political game they lost. He used to be a fair and noble man with honor and dignity but years of living on the road and planning his revenge has slowly changed his character. He says this quote once in a while in a joking, bitter tone whenever he is forced to do something dishonorable.

"A little dishonor makes your life much easier."

Jayden: What if I'm the reason we all fail in the future? What if, because I can't activate my stupid power, I cause our downfall?

Maddox: ...

Maddox: Well that would be a chronundrum don'tcha think [copious finger guns]

Jayden: I hate you.

 

[six year old boy accused of stealing a pop tart]:‘It’s not my fault, daddy!’

Dad: ‘Yeah, well it’s your fault mummy’s dead isn’t it?’

MC to brother-in-law after they get into a heated brawl, and are beginning to bond again over a bottle of whiskey. They've got a real big/little brother relationship going on, which is strained greatly by events, leading into a fight and a few lines I'm pretty happy with.

"Violence is the only language they understand, and I'm the best speaker of them all."

Line I've thought of for my MC for later use. I can't decide if it's suitably badass or overboard and cheesy. Don't want to send any readers cringing, but I do quite like it.

 

The tale end of a short fight:


“Useless!” the boss resounded, picking up the club in one hand. “How hard is it to kill an old fool?!”


Agnar didn’t waste a second, his blade swept across the man’s chest and found a path between his right ribcage, coming out the other side as he stepped under the towering frame to the back, behind his opponent. There was no sound as blood curdled up in the brute’s mouth, his windpipe severed from inside, along with his spine. Somehow, Agnar had also managed to keep from getting much blood on him, having deftly moved to avoid the majority of the spraying wounds.


“I told you, I’m not old...yet,” Agnar proclaimed.

 

Although he is a supporting character and not the lead, my favorite quote is by a man named Kirby in my screenplay/novel:

"My love for you is like a foot cramp, lingering and painful."

Re-reading that moment always makes me laugh!

 

This little exchange happens in a Confederation tank a bit after Marckus gets captured.

Confederation Major: “Classified installation, not that it matters! Not even you are going to be walking out of there alive!”

Marckus: “Sounds cozy! Make sure to let room service know I like my coffee strong, and if they got any decent reading material that would be great!”

 

"I can’t see the Earth soldiers either. It’s not a trick, it just makes it easier to do our job: We don’t use microwaves and accelerated metal to melt the flesh off of humans so their bodies go into shock and their organs fail. We shoot weapons at enemies.”

 

GC: That’s incredible. Are you aware that you hold the world record for the longest continuous time spent in virtual reality? You’re going to be in the Guinness Book of World Records.
JB: It’s not much of a surprise to me. I’ve always been exceptional.
GC: Do you see yourself as a pioneer of sorts? A lot of scientists, sociologists, psychologists, you name it—they’re analyzing the results of your experiences. They see your past year as a forecast for the future generation.
JB: Yes, a pioneer. I like that. It’s quite the feeling to be an inspiration to little boys and girls everywhere.
