Boy, I hope he comes to accept that. Or maybe the Mexican man whore and former drag queen sitting across from him will give him a dose of reality.

That wasn't anything deep. I was just quoting a YouTuber channelling Amadeus. Don't ask me why, over here it's the small hours.

A funny line of narration from my absurdist SciFi story:

Mr. Yoda was the Japanese man down the hall. By coincidence, he was short, wise, green-skinned, and had a funny way of speaking English. (Nobody knew why he was short.)

Arlese Arlington the First, the Hundred Years Queen.

Speaking to the last decedent of Arlington House upon her return to the beleaguered country of Tarnis.

"My presence alone would be enough to start a dynastic war. Tarnis cannot bear that. Not now.
I must move quietly. Gather allies. Name my enemies. And strike while they sleep..."

"I have a bullet with your name in it, And Im going to keep firing til' I find it!"
    -Alexi 'Trailblazer' Orlov.

It speaks about his quest for revenge and just shows you what kind of person he is.

My current WIP. My character wakes up in a strange place, and assumes he's been kidnapped. (long story short, he's whisked off to another world)

"Hello? Is anyone there? Please take me home. Not to my home, but to yours. You already seem like nicer people than my family. You didn’t steal one of my kidneys."

Kharrin: I will not fail my mission to you.
Zarakharn: Your position [as chief of the Hand of Justice] is staked on it.
Kharrin: I would stake my life on it.
    Zarakharn (ominously): Good.

That's totally not foreshadowing, by the way

"Mama and Papa taught me the meaning of true love. It wasn't the love of heroes or warriors. It was the simple, quiet love. It was my father holding my mother's hand as they ushered us into the world when she gave birth. It was my mother massaging my father's aching limbs when he couldn't sleep. It was the simple, everyday act of dying to yourself for on behalf of one that you cared for"

The second one needs a bit of context. A mute, but extremely intelligent character is facing a life/death alongside his love interest. When she asks him if he has any regrets, he writes back and says "My biggest regret is that I will never be able to voice the words 'I love you'".

"So great, Sal joined the family business. Riveting. His mom's a doll and pops seems like a real swell guy."

    "Kali, are you . . . jealous?"

"What? 'Cause my parents are gone? Dead? In the grave? And not crawling back out?" Dark laughter. "Oh no, I'm not jealous. 'Cause you see, he's in the same boat I'm in. He's not like the rest of you guys. I feel sorry for him is all. His family's mortal, like mine, and they're gonna die, just like mine. And then nothing, not magic, not even time, is gonna bring 'em back. He's in the same boat as me, alright. He just hasn't noticed it's sinking yet."

Captain Hera Noble in an as yet unwritten book titled 'Battled Beyond Redemption.'
This came to me today, and I realized it would be a great line for her on the last page. Here she is speaking with her friend, Noah Alexander before departing for parts unknown.
'I've killed people. Shot them face to face. I've ordered the deaths of starships, thousands of people...
'And him... I've hated him. And I will always hate him. For what he did. For what he took.
'But that one shot. That one buck of the gun... I feel it in my hand all the time. Every day, and every night in my dreams as I sleep. That one shot broke me...'

These gems from the opening scene, from my protagonist for a change...

    Ragnar: Are you all right?
Emily: I almost got trampled by Bambi, I was in a volcanic explosion, and you almost just ran me over. What do you think?

From Emily's musings: Ragnar. Of course. Only a vulcanologist would be driving at high speed towards a volcanic explosion.

Leave it in it won't make the rest of the book awkward and it doesn't have to match. Why? Becuase maybe your character doesn't swear and is reserved in his language and the one time he says something he means it. It adds to his character.
