This is from my character named Col Rasva. He is currently talking to his brother, Fen, after they had just been badmouthed by a couple of thugs.

Lauren had tracked down the head of a criminal organization off of his blood scent (she is a Vampyre, after all lol). She had cornered him in NYC and extended two of her claws through him. She had no intention of sparing him. As soon as she confirmed that he was responsible for the deaths of children, she was out for blood...no pun intended.

“He better not have forgotten how to read. It was such a pain teaching him the first time.”
“Don’t worry, I know how to read. Now, stop bothering Lord Col, he needs his rest,” a voice suddenly says out of nowhere. Eon has returned, too, it seems.'

Eon is Fen, Col's eldest brother, though he doesn't remember anything.

My main character mostly has her best lines in her internal narration, but I scrounged up a few good quotes.

Mavis: Ah, but I also lied about it very badly. Doesn’t that count for something?

Merryn has worked in an administrative role in an office for eight years. Her boss, Jim, is carrying out her appraisal:

Merryn was silent for a moment, wondering what it was that he wanted to hear.
“What’s your favourite thing about your role?” he coaxed with an eagerness she found disingenuous.
“Truthfully?” She had had enough of this nonsense.
“Honesty is the best policy, as they say!”
“I like stamping.”
“I’m sorry?”
“The ink stamps. Certification stamps, witness stamps, signature stamps... I especially enjoy stamping with the red ‘urgent’ stamp. I find it very satisfying. It’s my favourite thing to do here. Ka-chunk!” she added, banging her fist on the table.

 

“You don’t hate me?” Urraca asked Altesse. She took Atak's hand. “Hate us?”
Altesse shook her head. “I would have to hate myself if I did. I refuse to do that.”
