"Like is it food though?" "No it`s like cleaning and shit." -back and forth between to hockey players when I asked about servicing their rooms at work. May not translate as well on paper but in the moment had me laughing like hell. Just the way he said it.
My first job was working for a woman who saw me struggling and offered me a job. It totally changed my life. As I got to know her, I learned that she had been fleeced by a business partner and had to move countries to start again because she'd lost everything. She was then knocked off a moped and hospitalised for months. After that she started a new business (the one I worked for) and built herself up again. The whole time she was battling undiagnosed MS, which has now been diagnosed and is unfortunately worsening. She is fighting on, doing what she loves when she can. Way back i the day when I asked her what she would have done differently when she was my age (I was in my early twenties) she said that in her experience: The people who succeed in life are not the brightest, but the bravest. I don't know where she got it, or if she just made it up. I do know that it has guided me through everything I have done in the fifteen years since we met, and shaped my whole life. It made me realise that it doesn't that you're clever if you're not brave enough to risk failure, so I started taking risks and don't regret a single one, even the horrible failures. She's great. I need to call her!!
