    Dreams

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Night Haunter, Dec 1, 2007.

    One simple question.

Why have you not as yet fulfilled your dreams?

procrastination and lack of money, plus if you fulfilled all your dreams surely you would be bored, and therefore unfulfilled? I don't think humans were meant to be satisfied. It's the journey not the end which is important.

I was born in a century before my dream is really possible. Nearly as far back as I can remember, I have dreamed of exploring among the stars.

    I'm working on it.
Literally I'm working on a novel to publish as we speak. And I'm building up my experience, and credentials to eventually become Prime Minister of Canada.

Of course. I want power and to be put in the history books.
Becoming PM is an effective way to achieve both.

My dreams? I'm gettign there. didn't think I would get this far at all.

But yeah, lack of monay as well. It sucks. Money makes the world go round, not that we want it to, it's just unfortunatly the way of the world.

    Oh well!

Actually Dom only wants to be PM as it is the next step to taking over the world!!! (be afraid everyone...be extremely afraid)

What stopped me from living my dream was over protective parents as I was growing up and me rebelling against them. Then later on inlife when the opportunity to live my dream arose I fell pregnant with my son. Though I'd never change it for the world. Becoming a parent is far better than fulfilling a childhood dream in my opinion.

Though I still have dreams and there is NOTHING stopping them from being fulfilled what so ever. I am fulfilling them. Slowly, very slowly, but I am fulfilling them and that is the main thing if you ask me! :)

Money and time - and the not wanting to be hundred of thousands of dollars in debt before I can legally drink in the US. Something about that is just not encouraging.

Also, emotional ordeals - yet the course to fix them is going well for the current state

I would say it is the scramble for money. Money otself is only how we measure the value of goods and services. We need certain goods and services to survive, and we offer goods and services in return.

when it is not a fair exchange, that's when trouble arises.

Like movie theaters. Why do I pay $3 for a bottle of water when I can get one from a vending machine for 99 cents?

I think about this a lot, and yet I haven't really fulfilled any of my dreams simply because I don't know what they are.
I'd say that's the first step. Figuring out what it is you actually want, and then going for it.

Being neutral and content definitely has its downsides.

I don't lack for the desire to do things; I just lack in the initiative to get them started.

another simple question... why would you assume that no one here has???

regardless of which, i doubt 'dreams' are ever achieved, for the simple reason that they are only 'dreams' and not 'goals' that one will set for oneself and then set about doing what it takes to get there... 'dreams' are like 'hopes'... nebulous time-wasting substitutes for 'doing'... taking the place of decision-making and determination, plus the perseverance it takes to reach your desired destinations in life...

when one does 'fulfill' what you call one's 'dreams' it's only after one has turned them into goals and made the effort to reach them, instead of lying there and just dreaming of what one can be or do... and i suspect many here have reached more than one goal in their lives, so far... with yet a lifetime's-worth more to come...

in my middle-age, i wanted to be a professional writer and just did what i had to do to become one... it took only making the decision and doing the work, to get there in a relatively short time... now, having divested myself of 'self' i have no goals, just do whatever 'comes' to me... fyi, it's a much simpler and much more satisfying way to live...

I have that problem to. Which is why I occasionally throw myself in front of the truck that is called life, just to shake things up.
It usually works nicely, you just have to know how to roll with the impact when things go wrong.
