I was thinking of expanding on my narrative poems by turning them into short stories. My question is would that be over kill on the idea or would the expantion give it a new view?
its not overkill. and has been done before. If you have a poem you want to expand then do it, just be sure to do it well.
It's not overkill as long as you have enough material to turn into a full story. Naturally this idea would work better with story-poems, that is, poems which already tell a story, albeit in condensed form. If the poem doesn't really tell an entire story, then it's going to be difficult to pull off. You say that your poems are "narrative," so perhaps you stand a good chance.
i'm curious... how could it be 'overkill' unless the poems have already been published and well-read?
