Hey, I'm Ta-zer and I'm new here to the site. (Alcoholics Anonymous sounding much? anyway.) I've been writing for a while, but I haven't published anything (yet!) I'm always looking for people to critique my work and stuff, and despite my friends saying "You're an amazing writer!" just because they're, well, my friends, I'd like some actual concrits at some point =) Feel free to talk to me and such.
Hmm... the older guys haven't swooped in on this intro yet. It feels sadly neglected. So I'll introduce myself. Hi, Ta-zer. I'm Zetta, and though I haven't been here for long I can tell you these forums are some of the most helpful and friendly ones I've found in a while. I understand what you mean about needing some constructive criticism, and if I see any of your work I'll stop by for a look-see. Everybody else will, too. They have a wonderful review system here! Anyway, I'll quit blabbing and go do something constructive. See ya around!
Hello Ta-zer, and a big warm welcome to WF.org, the friendliest and craziest forum on the world wide web. It is wonderful that you have come here to join us and share your writing and opinions with all of us. If you would ever like a review simply PM myself or one of the other Reviewers and we will be more than happy to help out. You can find the list of reviewers by clicking on the Forum Leaders button at the bottom of the forum. I do hope that your stay with us is long and prosperous. Welcome aboard and I look forward to seeing you around the boards in the very near future. Thank you kindly Torana (and I am not old thank you )
Hello Ta-zer, Welcome to the Writing Forums. It's uplifting to receive praise from friends. It can provide the encouragement we need to begin developing a writing style. But the more useful criticism is that which points out the flaws and weaknesses, because thatdrives improvement. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Well, Ta-zer, that's exactly the issue with me at times...people start off soo enthusiastic, saying you're all that...but experienced writers or at least critics are what is needed to learn more about yourself. If you find people saying you are perfect, it means something is definitely wrong. But if people say you're imperfect in many ways, it's a good thing. So welcome, and if you need any help feel free to ask.
Welcome! I'm new too. Apparently we aren't the only newbies here. That's a relief. Well, enjoy yourself. And I know how you feel on the whole, "I haven't published anything (yet!)," thing. I'm anxious to get out there too.
