    Font search thread

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by beehoney, Nov 3, 2017.

    Hello Writing-Community,

Ok, I just heard this book as an audiobook. (But hey I believe someone in the community has it as the hardcover.) But I want to know the font that used in the body text. Which book I mean. “The selection”.

Why? Well, I find it interesting which font authors for their book and to find it out if it changes during his/her writing career. So for example, Rick Riordan (one of my favorite authors) used for his “Percy Jackson”-series—I mean the US-English version—the font “Centaur MT” and in his new books now he uses “New Baskerville”. So, you see it’s (for me) interesting.

So, if someone has “The selection” as hardcover could you please look what font the author used. (Thank you.) You find it under the copyright thing. Often, it’s one of the first five pages.

P.S.: If you (!) have a favorite book and wanna know the font. Ask here!

That is oddly strange. I did not know that they put the font on the copyright page.
Well I am off to start a 100 book series written in Comic Sans, and put on the
copyright page that it is in Gill Sans Ultra Bold. :D

It is a joke. I would not use either of those fonts, nor write a 100 book series.

@Cave Troll Yeah. A good writer won't use Comic Sans. So, do you know the font which I'm lookin' for?

I might be able to find out, if you know the author.

Update: Seems all I can find is the Cover font, which is Yana.
I will ask them and see if they will tell me which font they used. :)

I looked at the book in Amazon's preview page, and I don't see any font info. Maybe you'll be able to see it. All the info it gives is "typography by Sarah Hoy".

Well I figured that out. I asked her agent, but it may be a few days if they even bother to reply at all.
Seems more people are interested in the cover font, than the actual text in book.

Out of morbid curiosity, why is it so important as to what font it is written in? Will it somehow change
what is actually written on the page or something?

If you're unsure of a font.. you can take a close up phone pic of it, crop a line or so and then pop it into the website 'what the font' – it'll more often than not come up with the answer as to what it's called.

Unfortunately not. Must have thought it too trivial to offer an answer.
    Well I tried.

@Cave Troll You did your best. But I believe it's Garamond—because of fontsquirrel analyzed it. I am not sure if it is right.
