The span from October to now has been pretty kind to me. I thought about making a separate thread for each one, but I didn't want to bombard the forum. Back in October, I found out I'd earned an Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future Contest for 2018's 3rd Quarter. Ending up in the top two hundred out of literally thousands of submissions to a highly competitive contest is pretty awesome. It's also a nice bit of validation: I'm on the right track with my work. Got a nice certificate from the contest in November: In December, my eight short story--"Storming Gelon"-- was published in the 2018 edition of the Fall Into Fantasy anthology series from Cloaked Press. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6346DP/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1 It's a sword and sorcery tale, following a slave soldier as her senses of duty and morality clash. Just today, my ninth story got published in Issue #8 of Broadswords and Blasters. https://www.amazon.com/Broadswords-Blasters-Issue-Magazine-Sensibilities-ebook/dp/B07MFBRTHL/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1547517005&sr=8-8&keywords=Broadswords+and+Blasters "Lightning Between Your Fingers" is a genre mashup of sword & sorcery and mystery, following my recurring character Arlise Dun as she investigates what seems like an impossible murder. Personally, I think this might be my best published story. Hopefully my luck holds, but I won't be too broken up if it doesn't. Just making it this far has been exhilarating.
