Hello All. New Lyric writer from Michigan.

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Kidcarr51, Jul 31, 2007.

    Hello everyone.

I have been searching and searching for a good way to get some feedback on several lyrics I have written. Recently I have had this incredible feeling inside to get back to writing lyrics, which I have taken a break from for several years.

I have been around music my whole life. I have played in bands, (but really not much of a musician) I have done photography for major groups like Mark Farner of Grand Funk as well as Kid Rock as well as new and up coming groups. I have managed a few local rock bands. But I have never put my finger on what really moves me. I have tried the working from 9-5 and it all just seems to come back to this feeling of, writing music and get to the city. Which for me would be Detroit. So now I am going to put forth a full effort to see if this is my calling. I am very uncomfortable with putting my work into these forums, because I simply do not know enough about protecting the lyrics. BUT... I really need some shape of criticism on the lyrics. Still very unsure if this is the way to do it???

My outlook is to find some local musicians to help with the music for the lyrics. At the present time I am looking into sampler / synth machines to create the music. My influence for my style of music is a rock / rap genre. Kid Rock, Shootyz Groove, Limp Biscuit, Lincoln Park etc.

Anyways if anyone has any encouraging input please feel free.

    Thank you for your time.

    Brian Carr

    Welcome to the boards!

I've only been here but a week, but I'll be the first to let you know that the people here are easy-going and friendly. Do not be shy posting your work here, but beware of the critisism...most of the time its constructive, though. ;)

We discourage from putting entire novels (which does not sound like what you are doing) on this site, but lyrics should be fine --I dont think we've ever had someone steal another's work from this site, so don't worry. If you are particular wary, just make sure you have a way to document that it is really yours and that you came up with it first and yadda yadda yadda...

    Enjoy your stay! :)

Just lie back in your sofa and wait as the nectar of our craziness is poured into your head. Then you''ll be a true goner :d Hehe, just remember to enjoy yourself and ask for help if needed.

More belated welcomes from me too! Good to have you around and I hope you're settling in alright. I've never really been one for writing lyrics or anything myself, but good luck to you :)

Hello Brian, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, You should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
