Recently, I became aware that there are various conferences, or conventions, where Agents gather in their droves. Does anyone have any experience of these? Where can in find out about them?
There are conferences for all manner of industry professionals, just as there are conferences for doctors and veterinarians and so on. You won't be able to attend one of these conferences, however, unless you are an agent. You CAN, however, attend a writers' conference, at which agents tend to lurk and scout. If you've never been to a writers' conference before, you should try to take one in. They tend to be a lot of fun and are often filled with really great opportunities for networking (and they're educational, too).
