    Good Evening

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Dayul, May 11, 2008.

    Hello Chaps and Ladies,

Frustrated British storyteller here (not stories about Britain:D)

I felt I should say hello to everyone, even the ugly people. So "Hello". Not much really to say. I love stories, any story that'll keep me entertained is brilliant. I feel like i've got lots and lots of stories to tell, but I don't have the drive or skills to tell them.

I've joined for a number of reasons. Firstly I want to tell stories! Then I want to improve my story writing. My grammar skills when it comes to expressing my imagination aren't what they should be. I want to aquire the skills that'll let me tell the stupid stories that form in my bonce, and share them with the unfortunate ones who'll read them. Maybe the stories will stink, but its my stink and I want it to come across the best it can. Like a fart will always smell better under a duvet than it will in a busy fish market :p

I like details and pointless stories that just drift off. I can be sat on the train home, see a tree and think up a story about it. I'm not sure how normal that is, but it passes time.

Thats me. Very pleasant to meet you all.

Hello Dayul, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

ChimmyBear, anyone who can reply to my introduction post within 5 minutes is deeply beautiful. Cogito is 1 minute more beautiful than you though :)

I've been reading the rules. No 'adult art' and overly-dirty stories. Sounds easy enough, i'll just post my version of the Red Shoe Diaries on another forum. (I don't really have a version. I just said it to be clever).

Thank you for the quite amazing welcome. It has brought a tear to my eye.

I've also put you all through my 'electro-ugly' machine to see if anyone here is ugly. Guess what! you all scored 0. That's good. If it had been an "electro-beautiful" machine you'd all have gotten 10s. It sounds better that way but both machines technically do the same thing and the electro-ugly machine is half the price! It is answering a rather negative question, but a simple application of reverse-a-rising gives you the positive answer to the positive question and saves you enough money to buy a small fast-food takeaway business.

Common Sense approaches like this could have prevented Paul McCartney forming Wings (The band!). We live and learn.

    Thanks again for the welcome.
