I have always been very shy introducing myself on forums such as this and I sort of don't really know what to say, so I will try my best to give you a good introduction:redface:. I am a single mom of a teenage boy, a career oriented Human Resource Officer, and a very late 30 something or other who is going back to school to finish up her degree. I lead a very, very busy life. I have always loved writing. A passion I discovered by accident while still in high school. Well life gets in the way and I lost part of myself while life was busy getting in my way, however just a few years ago I figured it was time for me to revisit my old passion and have had a blast since writing poetry and short stories. My greatest adventure would be to write a novel which I completed last year-YEAH ME! The plot is great, but the writing is horrible (at least I think so) and it seriously needs some major editing. I ended working on this book so much that I begun to actually hate it-imagine that! So, I was offered some good advice and decided to put it down and begin another! I am in the outlining phase of it now, started the first chapter (which just seems boring so far) and decided I would seek out a writing community where I could form some friendships, critiques, and creative advice. And here I am. I look forward to meeting each of you and to grow with you in this literary world.
Hullo, dawnjyc! The name's TheHedgehog, but Hedge will do. If you prefer to call me by my real name, it is Greg. I myself am a thirteen-year-old male who secretly loves to write, but won't admit it to his family members. Congrats on finishing a novel. I could barely write a novella, and it was challenging enough. I'm sure it was a fine book. I'm fairly new myself (one day here, and five new members, about!) I haven't posted anything, but will hopefully get around to it. I'm glad to see another person from the Carolinas. I'm from the Charleston-Coastal area. What do you like to write and read? I doubt we'll have the same music taste, but what artists do you prefer? Look forward to reading your works and getting to know you.
Hi Hedge! Thanks for the welcome. Its funny but when I was thirteen, I was a closet writer too, ha ha. My parents did embrace it though when they found out and were actually quite impressed-believe it or not. I saw on another post that you like mystery novels, I do as well and that is primarily what I write. As far as music goes, don't be so sure that our taste isn't the same...if my thirteen year old son is listening to it-so am I. I love all music and all variations of it. Yes, I am a cool mom! At least I think so anyway.. From your post, you seem very mature and I imagine your writing is good. I would be interested in reading some.

It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon.
