My spell check and I are having trouble with these often simple words: "uh-oh, huh, ah." I was wondering if there was a list of these "hard to spell words" out there somewhere. For the life of me, I cant spell the words in this sentence: The croud "owd" and "awd" See what I mean. My spell check gives me nothing . . . just a bunch of jibberish.
I would say that spell check is not law, especially with onomatopoeic words which should be spelt however you feel like it. however in your sentence i would spell the words more along the lines of "oohed" and "aahed", simply because of convention: you would spell it "ooh" or "aah" if it were in regular speech, rather than reported speech and "-ed" is of course the standard suffix for the past tense.
if you can't find it done well somewhere and can't figure out how to do it well enough for the readers to get, don't do it!
I dont have that great of range, myself. If my spellcheck cant figure it out, then I dont many other options but to read ten books looking for it, or post a question here. So far, this is a much better way of gathering information.
Read ten books anyway. Then ten more. And then. . . Books you read for the simple joy of reading are the best teachers around.

There are a ton of books with "ooh,"ah", and "uh" riddling the pages. So long as its not overdone it works fine.
The op seemed to be asking how to spell common interjections. That’s how I read it, anyway. So I just found a list and posted it. Not a very good list, but it has some things one sees a lot.
