Hey there, WF (I'm gonna assume that's what you abbreviate yourselves to)! Someone on another writing site recommended this site, so I thought I'd come to see if this would be a good site for me. So, information... I'm a guy... and I'm english. Yeah, I'm one of those english dudes with the deep, baritone accents and who drink tea. But I don't play cricket. Not a cricket fan... skiing kicks ass. I'm into progressive rock/metal and classical music. Can't beat a bit of Tool or some music by Howard Shore, that's my opinion. I write mostly satirical novels and short stories, though I'm currently writing a fantasy novel that's along the lines of Neil Gaiman's style. Can't stand High Fantasy, too cliche these days. And that is that! I hope you didn't snooze too much during my introduction, I know we newbs can be quite boring when we introduce ourselves. On my main writing site, I just usually read the first sentence and skip down to the "Quick Reply" box and give them a quick "hello." Ciao.
Heya The Newb! I read your whole introduction Welcome to the forums, hope you find as much enjoyment as I have!
Italian! I like it (even though ciao is probably the only word I know). But anyways welcome to the forum! I've only been here 10 days and I've had more help with my writing than I have ever had before! The community here is great, and I hope you will get all the questions you have answered, as I have so far!! Z
Hello Newb, Welcome to the Writing Forums. What will you do when you've been here too long to be considered a newb? And no, you didn't bore me. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Salve, Newb. Love your taste in music, and can't wait to read some of your stories. P.S. You weren't boring.
Ah, such nice welcomes. I can tell I'm going to have a good time here. ^^ I think I'll go hunt something to crit right now.
Awww well we're all much more interested in who you are here and read your entire introduction Welcome to the forum
Welcome to WF. I hate to be the own who breaks the news to you, people have been hiding the secret from you. It appears our members were making chocolate Santas, when the chocolate Santas came alive. Now the Santas are eating our members. Be careful. *throws confetti* Welcome and cool introduction.
