Learning Italian. What provrams do you suggest?

I'm trying to learn Italian and I was wondering what would be the best program to use. The cheaper the better.

 

The Rosetta Stone system is good, but it isn't cheap.

 

That's what I was going to suggest.

I have a Berlitz software program for learning Spanish, and it's pretty good. Costs like $40.

 

Awesome Freeflow, I have always wanted to learn Italian, too. What a great idea.

 

You can do what I did when I was learning French. I found some websites online that offer free courses. They even had sound clips to help with pronunciation. After finishing all the material, I found some children's books and began reading those. Then I worked my way up to harder novels. It took a while, but I'm pretty much fluent in French now. It's a cheap and effective way (at least, it was for me) to learn a new language.

I just looked at the price for Rosetta Stone. All I can say is yikes! But most reviews do say that it's one of the best, if not the best, software, so I'm guessing it's worth the price.

That's a good idea! I'm going to start finding children's books in Spanish and do that.

 

I was going to suggest Rossetta Stone, but damn thats expensive!

 

Check with your local library; they may have Rosetta Stone there for you to try before you buy. Also, check out Pimsleur - they have an audio only method of learning which works well, and their way of teaching pronunciation is excellent. Your library may have those too.
