Has anyone tried the new Google browser?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by NaCl, Sep 10, 2008.

I got a message on my home system (Vista) saying a new Google browser is available. I believe it's called "Chrome". I don't see the same offer on my office system (XP). Just wondering if any of you tried it.

I am using Chrome right now.
    It is fast.
    And awesome.

I tested it out. I opened twenty tabs with Chrome and Firefox. Chrome was finished with its twenty tabs like it was no big deal. Firefox took a lot of time to load twenty tabs.
I was able to open twenty tabs three times with Chrome before the original twenty tabs on Firefox loaded.

    My new favorite browser.

Just tried Chrome and it's pretty good. Has lots of good options and is fast. Still, I prefer firefox.

yeah im also using it. its really nice, the reason its faseter is because each tab is treated as a separate process so if one tab crashes the others still run. its pretty cool and the most visited thing they have when u start it is awesome. i love that. i recommend it.

I'm gonna wait and see if it eats your processors in the next week, before I download.

It seems that as of late everything I download has some sort of add-on download from Google. Will we one day call it the Googlenet? Will websites go from www.somethingorother.com to ggg.weowneverythingonthegooglenet.google?

I use IE, but I'm going to give Chrome a try right now.... if I like it I'll stick with it. I'm a Google fan in general so I probably will.

Faster than fire fox? A lot of the people I know who have tried it said fire fox was faster (Of course that could be this horribly underfunded school network effecting download speed XD).

Thus far I've been told its a little glitchy and in need of polish but that its perfectly functional. All my friends say they are sticking with Firefox though.

Ya, I haven't noticed any difference in speed between chrome and firefox. And the bugs and glitches are acceptable since this is a beta version.

You will only notice the difference if you know how to set up a network.
Most people have the basic network.
If you don't know how to set up your own network and place your settings, then there is no way you can tell a difference.

Why do so many people ue firefox? I though IE was the only one that the majority of people use.....

Also I detest Google, I only ever use Yahoo

Most people prefer Firefox or other browsers because Internet Explorer is spam/virus/spyware bait. Its functional sure but there are much better browsers out there and most of them are free.

I just got Firefox (right this minute) and I think I’m digging it pretty well. Definite difference in speed just loading up writingforums.org and my work intranet.

How do I get two pages to show in the same Firefox session? Do I have to have the browser open twice to have the forum and my intranet open at the same time??

Oh, and did I just freakin' notice that Firefox does spell checking while I'm typing directly into the forum ?!?!?!

    I'm sold!!! Bye bye IE.....

ctrl + t opens in a new tab in firefox. I thought IE had the same thing also.

I've been using it all day, and I really do like it. It'll probably be replacing IE for me. I don't like Firefox, it never has appealed to me when I do use it. It looks like I'll be using Chrome from now on.

I use Opera. I like it better and there's even less risk of getting any garbage. Anyone making viruses for an Opera user is wasting their time. ;)
