Hello, folks. I'm an old biker from Wisconsin that has been working on a new genre, and I'd like to correspond with folks also working on novels. It's pretty tough to write for "Spiritual Semi-Autobiographical Fantasy Action Adventure." The nice part about that is no one else wants to bother! I am also looking for a creative writing club in my area. I saw one once at our local coffee bar, and failed to get their names at the time. I'd like some help, and I need mentor(s).
Thank you, Dresden. I'll try not to ask more than a few dozen questions per day. Right now I 'polishing' the first dozen chapters. It appears that my biggest headaches are transitional scenes. That is, I know how I want to move the plot along, and I know where I left off at the the end of the last chapter. Weaving the two together in a 'seamless' mode often keeps me up until 2:00AM. It's great fun, however.
Welcome to Writing Forums, Tourist! I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing. This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work. However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing. Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills. If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself and Cogito) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here. Banzai
Fourteen days! Yikes, plan on me asking fourteen questions per day over fourteen months! I am first at that "regurgitation" stage. I'm a fast typist, I write, I ruminate, and then fix everything over the next few weeks. Periodically I go back and read it all. Then change it again. In other words, I put a big "A" in amateur. As for your moderator staff, we're going to be buddies...
...like a bad penny... Hello, forum members! Yes, it's me, your favorite bad boy. Fresh from Purgatory, and happy to return. My book is almost finished, my bikes have been customized yet again and are now in cold storage at the bike shop. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and I'm a lot stronger! LOL. Chico
Thanks for the welcome back. It will be nice to get back in touch with old friends. I guess the old adage is true, people like bad boys. I'm a year older now, and you know what they say about old people, their personal filters and an acerbic tongue, don't you?
