Hello, everyone. For most of my life I have enjoyed experiencing others' fiction (mostly films) and coming up with my own ideas. Now, I am finally in a place where I feel like I should be starting a hobby in writing. I am very excited to dedicate myself and interact with this community. It could be really fun to enter contests and share criticism. My imagination is very much drawn to horror and comedy. As far as novelists go, I love Stephen King, Clive Barker, David Sedaris, and many more. Reading Stephen King's 'Lawnmower Man' is actually what pushed me to join this forum and make writing a part of my daily life. Looking forward to interacting with you all, Jipset
Jipset! From your list, I dig Clive Barker. I've read a few of his works (Imajica, Sacrament, etc.) and of course, who hasn't seen the Hellraiser films based on The Hellbound Heart? Every time I see some video regarding snazzy puzzle boxes all I can think is, "Really? You're going to risk getting cenobites!?" You'll have gotten a PM from me upon joining. Make sure you give it a look. Wreybies
Interesting that you read both King and Barker. Even King admitted that he is a joke compared to Barker. On a personal note, Barker is the master of Horror. Though on the flip-side I miss Bradbury, and Andre Norton when it comes to Sci-fi. On a lighter note: Good luck and have fun.
Welcome to the forum. I haven't written much in the way of horror, though I do like the inspiration I get from a good horror story. Good luck in your endeavors, and if you need help from any of us hooligans (including the dapper one we've got), don't be shy.
Hi! I love horror and Stephen King, too. I've never heard of Lawnmower Man though; I'll have to look it up. My girlfriend keeps telling me to try David Sedaris, but I'm still trying to read Game of Thrones all the way through (my third attempt in 2 years; I keep dropping it after awhile and then waiting to long to pick it back up) so I'm pretty busy with that.
