Hello fellow writers. I have been struggling with the idea of writing a book for many years. I had many fantasy scenarios in mind, but never put it on paper. Lately (about last 6 months) I decided to make it true. I start writing down notes, I created a structure and a plot, then some characters, then the motives and the backstories. Recently I manage to create a thorought timeline, and currently I'm filling the last plotholes. Also I started writing the first scenes and I am excited Book plot: In a post apocalyptic world, where technology created in the past is used for protection or dominance, a series of events will threaten the provisional truce between the 3 preponderant city-estates. Genre: Sci Fantasy Further information soon
Glad you joined us here, Egersis. A lot of work in planning and organizing can help with the actual writing of the tale(s) set in the world created. I have the First Civilization's Legacy Series, that is post-apocalyptic fantasy, but the plot is much different from what yours is becoming. Just another example of how wide the scope is for telling tales. Press on and get that first draft finished! Terry
Thank you Terry. It's just that, sometimes I have troubles like... questioning what I am writing, and if my character should do "thatt" instead of "this" and it is a never ending circle. Trying to work on that...
Welcome to the forums, Egersis. It's great you've found the story you love and are making it come true. Got my fingers crossed you get it completed. The first book is always the hardest.
Once you flesh out your characters and get to know them, they will lead you along a path they would follow. Welcome to the forum.
so good to meet you!! this sounds like such an interesting and complex idea--wishing you all the luck on this first draft! you've got this!
Welcome aboard, @Egersis, and good luck in your story. Like @Thundair said, once you start writing, your characters will tell you things you didn't know about them, and take your story to places you didn't expect. I call it "taking dictation from my characters." It is normal. One piece of unasked-for advice. Edit each paragraph as it is completed, then the chapter while it is fresh from your mind (or your characters). Then set it aside and don't go back and rework earlier chapters. If you see the need to change something earlier, put a sticky note on the paper copy, or drop a comment in the Word file. But don't do major editing in mid-story. It will suck you into an endless loop of changes. Editing is critical thinking, incompatible with the creative phase you are now entering. Just focus on how great the story is until you get to the magical "The End". Then you can put on your critical hat on and edit like hell. Good luck, and you have put an awful lot of pre-planning into this story.
Thank you for your advice, will take it into consideration (was definately gonna fall into that loop xD )
Welcome from one new guy to another. Thanks for teaching me a new word today, preponderant. Seriously, your introduction post is the first time I've seen it, so I had to look it up. My vocabulary is now one word larger.
