I have been lurking here for a while but didn't make an account until today. I generally prefer chat environments such as IRC or Discord but have for a few weeks been unable to find any substantial communities there and finally I decided to sign up for this account. I greatly enjoy writing, and I enjoy reading even more, but I do not have much experience with writing. I wrote for a teen newspaper when I were much younger and have made a few attempts at novellas and novels in my adulthood. In addition to this I have been role playing practically my whole life. Now I am pushing forward with my latest attempt at a novel but whether or not anything comes of it, I felt like joining a community, if for nothing else than to be part of a creative space while I am doing my own writing. I hope to chat with some of you folks some time. Thanks you for having me in the community.
Welcome to the forums! Hope you like it here - it's been a really helpful site for me so far. Also, quite honestly, you have more writing experience than I do. I'm looking forward to seeing your posts around here.
Thank you for the replies! I like reading romance as well as science fiction and fantasy as well. One of my most loved series is the Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan. Right now I am writing a sort of mix of fantasy and real life romance (not urban fantasy). I have before written science fiction and fantasy. This is the first romance novel I am attempting.
That sounds interesting. I find writing romance very difficult. How are you combining the fantasy element?
The characters in my book are role players, and the fantasy element are their role playing sessions, but in my book they play out as an independant side story with the outside elements of dice rolling and the player's out of character discussions merely implied, until something or someone interrupts the session and the focus needs to be on real life again. I haven't quite worked out how much focus to give the role playing sections yet but so far it seems to work quite well, at least in my opinion.
Sounds awesome! I like that idea! Great to see new members! And I love seeing some diversity! Also; welcome to the madhouse!
For your information @Darkbynight , break the moonflower in a mortar and mix some honey + sugar to create sticky mixture. Then pour it over sea eagle's eggs, and you create a trap. This trap is used to make distractions against @Oscar Leigh
