Hello my fellow men and women, gentleman and ladies, murderers and thieves. I have come here to join amongst you fine people. I write poetry, a play and novels. I try to do some of this, but I lack the ability to edit. I always think of a way to make my writing better, and I hope someone here can help me, but give me an honest critique and not too harsh, because there is a fine line between help and just saying this is rubbish. I'm 17 and live in England. A country to be proud of, America's mother. Well, I hope I make as many friends as possible, but I really need some people's help, I promise I won't plagrise and pester anyone. But I will try and help if possible.
Thanks, I saw your signature, and you look marvelously pretty, but all of humanity is pretty, there is no such thing as ugly. It's all in the mind.
Ah Germany, a country for people to be proud of, well respected, intelligent and polite. What more can I ask for? England Rocks, and also we are both brothers if you think about it. Due to the royal family.
Hello Gemini, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Don't worry, I won't post it here, I'm just going round trying to give my opinion on each piece of work, as the saying once said, "people around me are a far greater reward then pleasing myself."
Well thank everyone. But how can I prevent myself from getting banned also, can I ask you something, it's about British history about the catholic church and God? Don't worry, it's only for my play, and it is not set in those times, I just want to make facts good.
Did the Catholic church usually put a burnt mark on the sinner, and if his wound is completely healed by a week's time, they are forgiven and if he does not heal, he is still sinned? Did that happen? I only know this because my history teacher told me that, and that was in primary school, which was like 8 years ago, when I was in year 5 to 6.
I don't actually know, I've tried to search the answer but cant find it. It sounds a plausible possibility.
Oh okay, I will actually do whatever you want. If you find out,I'll mow your lawn, call forth the heroes from the show Heroes and give you the meaning of life.
