I joined this website a while back, but never got the chance to really get into the full swing of it. I was using my roommates computer which we refer to as the "sweat box". It overheats and burns like - well it just really freaking burns. Anyways, I haven't wrote anything, save for the occasional RPG here and there, for a long time. No, I take that back I haven't completed anything and still feel like a bit of a novice. Regardless, now that I'm with my own computer and everything, I've decided it is time to get back into the swing of things. I've come up with an idea and am working on characters, I'm just going with the motion for now. In my spare time, which is limited since I'm a third shift sales associate, I try to read. I also play video games every now and then, watch anime and regular television shows. I listen to music for inspiration or just take a nice shower and something will fly to me. I avidly seek to learn something in order to not be so bored, which has worked some what. I've learned some decent knowledge in HTML Web Design and some on Photoshop. I'm going to start back learning more about those and expanding my knowledge to video editing which looks extremely fun to do. I'm honestly just seeking to motivate myself now more than ever, I've been slacking so much these years I don't even know where to begin. This community looks friendly though and I hope to share great things with you all and make some nice pals along the way. I'll try to be active as much as possible, but I tend to feel like an idiot whenever I got to give an opinion on something. I am my own worst critic, haha. That was my original reason for joining the forum too, but unfortunately it's really only made me spend more time on the internet and less time on my writing. Oops! Don't worry... nobody else appears to have that trouble here. Welcome aboard.
Hello and welcome to the forum. Motivation requires a commitment. I'd start by developing a routine. One designed to build good habits. Hope the people here can at least motivate you enough to get started towards that commitment.
Welcome to Writing Forums, Zosan! I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing. This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work. However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing. Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills. If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself and Cogito) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner.
