"We don't talk about them here! That's like talking/asking about [...] in/at a [...]" Anyone have an idea how I could finish this sentence? The person speaking is a magical race, surrounded by other people of that same race. The "them" is a type of monster that their race is known to turn into, and talking about them is taboo. I'm going for something like "That's like talking about a school shooting at a gun show" or "Talking about how much fun you had getting slammed at an AA meeting." Those examples suck, and wouldn't fit in a YA novel anyway, which I why I need help. Any suggestions?
...like talking about rust while standing on a metal bridge. ...like talking about rot while standing on a wooden bridge. What magical things exist in your universe? Can you tie an example to that? ...like talking about X magic in other X magic's school. ...like talking about necromancy in a healing ward. ...like talking about flooding while in the sewers. ...like asking an old person about their testament. ...like asking about the time at a funeral.
I tried google, I tried Ecosia, I tried bing, none made that comment make sense. So I guess: ... like talking about googolplex during a chalkboard meeting.
Nick Rivers: Are you in some kind of trouble with the police? Hillary Flammond: Some things are much better left unsaid. Nick Rivers: Like what? Hillary Flammond: Well, you know... sometimes when you blow your nose into a tissue and you put it in your purse, then a little while later you have to reach in there for your lipstick or something, and your hand gushes into it, and it goes all over...

Like discussing bathroom/toileting habits on a first date? Sorry, I've been looking at www.fmylife.com a lot. Bathroom humor is very popular and you mentioned a YA story so.....
Is "bansigh" Welsh or Irish? I know I've seen that word before. I'm not too clear on Uumbak though. The first word, bansigh reminds me of the elves and one of their rituals....dunno which one though. If I guess, I'd assume Mercades Lackey was the author - apologies about the spelling.
