This is a list of all my research bookmarks. When I needed to learn something for my book, these are the webpages I went to. I thought someone here might find it interesting. All are for the same book.
I feel like we could use this as a writing prompt. Pick three articles, read them, and base a story on them.
Edible seaweed = The book involves millions of people trapped in their homes. I played with the idea of a small family subsisting on edible seaweed grown inside their home. But I ended up scrapping that idea. Human decomposition = There are a LOT of dead bodies in my book. I wanted to keep it realistic. I'm a stiller for realism. Menstruation = One of the main characters is a young girl. Again, realism.
That's one of the reasons I'm glad I'm a girl. I don't have to research that. xD Although pregnancies in stories can be so aggravating. It's like "wait, at what point would she feel the child kicking?" But I love me a good "mistress gets herself pregnant with the king's child in a grasp at the throne" plot.
It seems that one of your characters is in love with Mary Jane. But your list is really huge! Glad to see among your links Hemingway Editor and Grammar Girl
Mary Jane? For a moment there I thought you were talking about Spider-man's Girlfriend. In the book, a group of pandemic survivors are trying to survive all on their own. I small girl is vomiting so much, from a stomach flu, that she is becoming dangerously dehydrated. The others need to stop the nausea. An I.V. and marijuana is determined the fastest way to save her. (This is a plot device designed to force characters to leave the safety of the farm.) Later in the book, marijuana's recreational use and cultivation become political issues.
