If not for wriing what would you be doing?

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by haribol, Feb 15, 2013.

Writing is my cup of tea and i would take to writing anytime i choose to since I am drugged with writing, and it has been a sort of sex and totally i get immersed in it though what i write does not come out to be always interesting

What exactly do you mean? What would be my creative outlet if I didn't write, or what do I do in my downtime when I'm not writing?

I already only write part of the time, until I can't fight the urge any longer. I also like to make documentaries, short films and dabble in photography. Without any writing I'd just focus on those more.

I suppose I would fit the local stereotype: no skills and having children I can't afford to raise.

It was through writing (and being an aggressive, over-talkative witch) that I got the opportunities to do what I'm doing now: I write articles/novels/scripts, I direct short videos for a variety of purposes, and I get to meet and work alongside some amazing and talented people. These activities take up most of my time.

When I write in my free time it's usually a substitute for TV, nail art, or socialising.

When I am not writing my world revolves around my daughter, then Teaching Martial arts and training, oh and that annoying necessity that is work.

I already do what I would do if I weren't writing lol I sing & I act & I make short & sometimes low-budget feature films for fun. I love anything creative, so I get together with my best friend & we write a script, cast it, get in some crew & film it - just for fun :-D

It seems people' here a great many people find writing really stimulating and if it is not for writing they would find themselves in a very distressing situation. Having said this I do not mean People have nothing to do without writing and
Yet all i feel is writing gives a different and rich feeling. Life is full of stories and we have to take part in all aspects whether they are moments of joy or pain but as writer all i can do is I can sfand as a witness to all my activities and it is abit spiritual feeling. Therefore i am hooked to literature since it is a portal to different and enriching experiences few ofher disciplines can provide to me.

Life without literature or and therefore creative writing is virtually unthinkable to me and it is like breathing and not a moment goes without a breathing activity.

I am a banker and often do farming and teach a variety of topics from professional courses to creative writing. However
Given a choice it is always writing i revel in and i will have to admit that no other disciplines can fascinate me more than writing and in writing i feel elevated and my height going higher and higher and the entire world seems smaller and smaller to me through writing.

Since my very babyhood before i know what literature is I had a great passion for writing and the first jobs i did as a child was copy and i used to copy poems and later on on their model and mold.

Now i do not say i do not copy and my writing is not free from plagiarism but the kind of plagiarism i use no edit can find out and it is creative plagiarism.

In this thought-experiment, for me it depends on whether or not I'd been writing before. If I hadn't, I'd be fine. I'd make up stories in my head, like I do now, and just forget about them again. I'd read, have fun with my friends, listen to music, play some games. I would never know what I was missing, so I wouldn't miss it.

If I, for some incomprehensible reason, I had to stop writing now, I would be miserable. Not immediately, days go by as it is without me putting one word down and I am perfectly fine. But the cogs in the back of my mind never stop spinning, never stop working on my stories. They turn out wonderful idea's at the most inconvenient moments. If I wouldn't be able to do anything with them, they would wither away and would know they were. I would know I was losing the opportunity to share the crazy, ridiculous, amazing things my brain comes up with. No doubt I would find lots of things to fill my days with and I would find other things to make me happy again, but part of me would always be miserable...

On a more positive note: at the moment, when I am not writing, I am mostly busy studying. Or I am visiting friends or family on the other side of the country (yes, my country is tiny, but it's still true!). I also do a lot of reading and sometimes play some videogames.

Acting and practicing law and maybe standup comedy. Oh, wait a minute ... aren't those pretty much the same?
