Hi, I’m hoping to help out a good friend. Gia is a fun and positive person. However, her past saw some dark times. Identifying as a gender fluid lesbian, she had a difficult time overcoming a strict religious upbringing and adversity in adulthood. At the age of 37 in 2018 she got rid of her apartment and all of her belongings except for a suitcase of clothes. She decided to venture on a suicide mission to Bali with $1500.00 and nothing to lose. Her plan shifted once she realized her death would be in vain. No one would benefit from the mistakes she made. Ten months, 5 countries later she completed her 60,000 word memoir in the Maldives. My objective opinion is that people will want to hear her story. Gia covers topics such as her experience being gender fluid along with severe adhd, substance abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide attempts, and the connection between porn and serial killers. It is inspiring how she was able to figure out the things that weren’t working in her life and change the path she was on. She found her source of strength through the power of positive thinking and her writing. In addition she adopted a new lease on life via long term travel. Her goal is to self-publish on Amazon. She plans to advocate for people who are at the end of their ropes in hopes her story can make a difference. I’ve met a lot of people in this world. Mod Hat on - we don't allow the promotion of social media accounts in first posts for obvious reasons. We are also uncomfortable with someone linking someone else's account especially with the information above. If Gia wants to join here we are happy to help her, but soliciting members to contact a third party off site is not on Hat off - if she intends to self publish she doesn't need an agent... a developmental editor is a good call, but she'd be well advised to get beta readers etc first...
"The connection between porn and serial killers" is not too surprising for me. I already know of the criminality of porn. Unfortunately I think most websites online are funded by pornography in some way. I'm happy that child pornography is being taken more seriously. Porn is basically filmed prostitution. And female prostitutes have always been an easy target for predators because (1) they are women where generally women are usually stereotyped as weak, (2) they are mostly punished or ignored by local authorities, (3) they usually have to make connections with fellow whoremongers, prostitutes, and criminals, and (4) they usually have to work in private settings that are unfortunately ideal for a planned homicide. There are more reasons, but those are just a few from the top of my head. I hope your friend is ok.
