Hey everyone. How are you all? I'm Alan Lemex (not my real name) I'm an aspiring writer, avid film entusiast, Studant at the Northumbria BTEC collage and Guitarist from the worst part of the worst country on earth... Northumberland, England. I never really know what to write in these things. My favourte writers are H.P. Lovecraft, (anyone know of him? Didn't think so) Stephen King, Ian Irvine and Robert Block. My storys oftan relfect my pessimistic view of the world, like a David Lynch film or a Lovecraft story, though I refuse to write anything for the 'Cthulhu Mythos'. Anyway way, I liked the look of this place and desided to join, see you all around.

Surely it can't be that bad! Anyway, and if it is, you have come to the right place for a spot of escapism. Sorry I haven't heard of your author chap but a quick google / wiki reveals him to be an interesting guy, at least he was. It's difficult to write optimistically and not come across like a greeting card so I choose not to too - pleasure to have you in the club. See you around the site!
Welcome to WF, Lemex. =) I know who Lovecraft is. Waiting on a book of his from my local library right now, actually.
Lovecraft is quite nice, other than his.. possible racism escapades. But you don't read books because of the author's personal life, obviously. ANYWAY, I hope you enjoy your stay here and whatnot. By the way, I felt like being sneaky and I noticed you like Johnny Got His Gun? 'Tis my favorite as well. : )
Wow! Me and you will get along fine, I can tell It was an awesome, awesome book and Joe Bonham was a great protagonist. Thank you all for the warm welcome!
Hello Alan, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room on this site, therefore, is a true workshop, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
