I just joined this a.m. and looking forward to reading and learning. I will go take a look around and see how it's done Truly hoping for others to even just visit with here. I live pretty, far out in the country and my favorite place is home. But seems I am there more and more. I'm becoming anti-social I love writing but am new at trying to publish it so we'll see. I like to write things that make people laugh, so humor I don't know how funny "strangers" might think I am, I've only published articles, not books. I have written something humorous(like I said, some of my family and friends thought it was funny)that is 2500 words but it isn't really a story. Oh that's great! You are starting early I am so excited for you. What I love about writing is that feeling of creating something original. I mean we are all unique and so no one can write the same as we do. I mean you know people copy other's styles etc. but really, no one is exactly like us And we also have our own experiences that might be similar to other's but never exactly the same. I will go check out your link I saw in your signature. I am 56 by the way and just a country gal I could have had grandkids your age but I never had children. I love animals and rode horses for lots of years. I don't own them now though so just my dog and I. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Thank you for the welcome. I will respect the board rules. No problem. I looked for an answer in FAQ but couldn't find one on "how many words" are we allowed to post, when we post our own writings for critique. Also, by review, do you mean critiquing other's writings? Thank you again, Denise
Critique is a slightly more apt word than review. Roper and Ebert review - they tell people whether or not they think people should expend time and money on watching a film. A critique is more concernbed with how to make the subject better, regardless of how good (or not) it may currently be. As for how many words you may post, it isn't a fixed limit. A single post has a character limit which I don't recall at the moment, but people do post stories in more than one sequential post in the same thread. However, the longer the story segment, the less likely people will take the time to read and critique it. You're better off posting short excrpts. Most critiques will deal witj the writing style anyway, and a short excerpt is as good as a long one for that.
i am starting horse riding again soon. i used to do it as a young child as my nans friend had two western riding horses, but now she has moved to florida and had to sell them. i would love to see some of the horses and i love dogs (i have 3) and would love to see a pick of yours. if i ever need any help, i wont hesitate to PM you. fantasy girlxxx
