Hi, I'm a new guy here.

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Fragger, Jan 30, 2008.

Hey guys, I'm new and I'd be glad to get to know each and every one of you(not really). I'm an experienced forum user and know the basic rules and I also read your rules. I came here to hone my writing skills cause people say my works have potential and I came here to perfect them.
*carries bags*" So, where do I stay as newbie?"

Hello Fragger, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

You'll find there's a freshly cleaned and painted blog room with your name on it. It's where many people feel most comfortable dumping their baggage.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well!

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

I do. I've been fascinated by the unfamiliar and don't believe in the saying "Curiosity kills the cat"... Okay, maybe a bit.

Bollocks. Curiousity didn't kill the cat. I killed the cat.

Welcome to the forums Fragger. I hope you find them useful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm always happy to help.

Hi Fragger, I'm new too and feeling very much like the new girl in class - a little lost, a little apprehensive and a little excited all wrapped up in one.

To get regular, Pepto Bismol is good. ;)

I believe the transition from Junior Member to Member takes place at 30 posts. After that, you become a Senior Member at 100 posts. Those are the only standard levels based on activity. Other roles like Reviewer and Moderator are at the discretion of the site owner, and are only assigned as needed to support the current site traffic. One additional role, independent of the rest, is Supporter. By contributing a small donation to help keep the site running, you gain several benefits for a period of time, including not having to look at banner ads.
