Couple of weekends back we had pride on the same day as armed forces day. The usual armed forces parade was cancelled for " security reasons" so all the veterans joined the back of the pride parade and went on to have a fully inclusive piss up and barbeque.
In The Laundry Files, there's a gay couple who get the day off of their top-secret jobs to march in the Pride Parade. Nothing to hide, no risk of blackmail, no security issues. However, I was referring to Wrey's unfortunate military orientation, not his sexuality
Yeah what people do in the privacy of their own home and all that, but being airforce in public, he should be ashamed.
so the questions is are you only kinda gay or gay as fuck ? Maybe you should get wrey to change your user name to 'Alex is gay AF'
You can't just suck life out of the thread, you've got to weigh in. Is Alex, indeed, kinda gay? Or is he gay as fuck? (Side note: I've got a novel I'm about to start looking for betas for and one of the MCs is named Alex and he is, really, Gay AF. So... that's a little bit of of extra stakes for this thread... and also a warning that I'll soon be looking for betas...)
Well going off of first impressions, I'm voting for Gay AF. I'm all for going all in on whatever your particular passion is. Also you know I'm your beta ho any time you call Ms. Bay.
This thread made me smile when I wasn't particularly happy. Where is Alex? He's got the suspense going!
If @Alex is kinda gay turns out to be gay AF, we've got enough to plot a graph and see if there's a trend.
Nice to meet you! I hope I won't be coming on to strong (so to speak), I'm not gay but I support their rights, but like many other straight people, my sin is being dumb and ignorant. I've been trying to write gay characters, and I constantly worry I'm not... doing them justice? Any thoughts on the dos and donts of depicting sexuality respectfully?
Just remember that we're people like any other people. Idealizing us is as bad as demonizing us. If you want examples to read of gay characters handled well and holistically by a writer who isn't gay, read some of the books by Michael Chabon. The Mysteries of Pittsburg, Wonder Boys, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Some of these are films. Skip the films, read the books.
Personally I'm straight as fuck, I have two series Mcs one is gay, one is straight, neither is perfect, both are just people.
This thread has everything. Love it. Come one, Alex, don't keep us waiting! I'm an Alex too but barely qualify as Bi. Not good for your statistics, sorry.
