    I don't belong here.

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by bensonphoenix, Apr 28, 2013.

    I don't, its true.

...but I want to be here. I want to learn. I want to be able write.
To Truly write, to plant a seed. To inspire and motivate. Even if
my words and thoughts only reach and influence one person in a
positive manner. My job would be complete, would it really?
I don't think that I will ever really be able to stop, not now.

I look forward to a long relationship with this community and
I hope that I will be able to give back what i have taken, even more
if possible. I don't have much to offer right now but that will
change. About myself, I live in the Southern Hemisphere, I am 25.
I enjoy living at the coast for the various activities that in itself provides for me.
I hate writing these introduction threads simply for the number of "i's". It kills me.
I enjoy training and a bit of mixed martial arts and i LOVE the internet.

The biggest reason I would say I am here, where I draw inspiration from,
that would be heroic fantasies. David Gemmel was the man that inspired me
and partially shaped me to the person that I am today. I am interested
in writing anything that my imagination can conceive, I will not confine myself
    to one genre.

TL DR I am really happy i found this awesome site, can't wait to learn and give back.
Interested in writing heroic fantasy but not limited to that. I have a lot to learn
and also hate all the i's in this post.

That's how I felt the first time I shared my work in a writer's critique group. Then I learned I could learn the skill of writing. :)

    Welcome!

If you're not sure where to start, I'd suggest poking around some of the sticky threads first.

Hope to see you around the forum soon!

    Welcome to Writing Forums, bensonphoenix!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirements. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills. The requirements of the Writing Workshop don't apply to the contests, so new members are allowed (nay, encouraged!) to get stuck in and enter! We also have a growing short story club (think book club, but with short stories!), which you can find stickied in the Book Discussion forum.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

READ THE RULES?! DID YOU SAY READ THE RULES?

    RULES.......SMULES!

We don't need no stinking rules. Back in my day, we made the rules. And if we found some we didn't like, we'd just tear them up and make new ones.

Yeah!.....Wait a dang second.......Don't know that van. What's that sign on side? Crap need my glasses.

    Uh-Oh! IT'S THE WRITING NAZIS!

Time to put the cat at the computer. Don't know if this will work again.

Welcome to the forum! I am also pretty new and I hope to be reading some of your stories sometime soon. =]
If you are big into fantasy novel I would suggest reading, "Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. It is amazing! :)
